Requirements of the Dual System
Qualifications:

-  completed secondary modern school (US: junior high school), i.e. nine years of elementary school education

-    contract of apprenticeship with an acknowledged gardening or floristics training company
 
Length of training:   -   3 years

 

Implementation:  

- theoretical training at the vocational school is about 1/3 of the total training time, i.e. trainees attend school every third calendar week for one whole week;

- practical training comprises about 2/3 of the total training time and is carried out by acknowledged training companies;

- in addition, trainees take part in special one-week seminars on technology, protection of plants, etc. in special training centres;

- in the field of gardening, trainees can choose between the subjects “Service” or “Production”;
 
Examinations 

-   the exams comprise theoretical and practical tests, with the practical part making up 60%.
 
Professional designation: 

-   gardener, special field: …

Moreover, our division offers seminars for Vocational Preparation.
This is designed for young people who

·        do not have a contract of apprenticeship with an acknowledged training company,
·       have not completed secondary modern education
·       are handicapped one way or another.
With these practical and theoretical training elements in the fields of gardening and floristics, we intend to prepare young people for working life or to help them get training contracts.

The training comprises

·     consolidation of knowledge in languages, mathematics, etc.

·     elementary vocational training in gardening and floristics.
